Cable Discharge Event Simulation and Measurement Methods

Cable discharge events can damage sensitive electronics and these risks can be estimated with measurement and simulation methods. In this study measured cable discharges are compared to 3D simulation and vector network analyzer S-parameter based discharge current calculations. This study shows that real-world cable discharge events can be estimated based on the calculation methods.
