Development of System Basis Chip FS6500 as Complex Device Driver for Fail Silent and Robust Power Management of Electric Vehicle Inverter

This paper presents AUTOSAR compliant complex device driver (CDD) development of system basis chip (SBC) FS6500 for fail silent and power management of electric vehicle (EV) inverter circuitry. The different voltages levels (under-voltage/ over voltage) and safety monitoring measures that are required by the multicore microcontroller for verifying timings (watchdogs with challenger) are provided over serial peripheral interface (SPI) protocol. The paper demonstrates combining multicore microcontroller technology (AURIX TC27x) and SBC FS6500 and aligning IC safe state with the system safety goal. Developing SBC as CDD makes the inverter circuitry robust. CDD development is performed using SPI configurations and SBC register parameters configurations. Experimental results shown in the paper depicts SBC sole purpose of optimal voltage regulations. Therefore, usage of SBC can reduce the effort needed to achieve an ASIL D system level solution for the EV inverter system.
