Effect of Parameter Optimization on the Performance of FSFCL and CB

With the continuous deployment of extra high voltage power grids, the short circuit current level is increasing, and the hidden dangers from the inability to disrupt the circuit breaker (CB) current can seriously threaten the safety and stability of electrical systems. So fast switch fault current limiter (FSFCL) is added in the system to prevent this problem. FSFCL also reduces the transient recovery voltage (TRV) of the circuit breaker. Therefore, for a reliable CB interrupt, it is necessary to customize FSFCL and CB. Several issues are considered in this paper, by interfacing FSFCL to CB. All interruptions are minimized by minimization of TRV, the voltage of the FSFCL, and the short circuit current level are used as an objective function. Genetic Algorithm is used for optimizing the parameters. The method is simulated and tested to show the improvement in the performance of the FSFCL after the parameter optimization.
