NVH Performance of Direct Flux Controlled Switched Reluctance Machine

This paper introduces a novel direct flux control method to drive switched reluctance machines (SRM). The needed flux waveform for each phase is obtained to produce the desired torque with minimum torque and radial force ripple. The voltage level is adjusted through a flux generation block to achieve a uniform machine performance over a wide speed and torque range. 2D and 3D Multi-physics Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations have been performed to evaluate the vibration and acoustic noise performance of the proposed SRM drive method. Simulation results show that the proposed method makes a ripple-free torque possible in addition to improved NVH performance.
