Aerodynamic Performance and Wake Effect of New Type Nautilus Blade Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

The application of vertical axis wind turbines is becoming more and more extensive. Based on the nautilus isometric spiral wind turbine this paper combines the shape characteristics of the blades of the wind turbine to design a new nautilus blade wind turbine with a simpler structure. Through simulation calculation, the torque characteristics of the double-blade, three-blade and four-blade nautilus blade wind turbines are compared and analyzed. The results show that the four-bladed wind turbine has the best performance. The number of layers of the wind turbines and the nautilus angle of the blades is further optimized, and the optimal wind turbine structure with three-layer and 135° nautilus angle blades is determined. The average torque coefficient of this wind turbine not only reaches 0.2236, but also the output torque fluctuates slightly. Finally, the wake characteristics of the new type of nautilus blade wind turbine with optimal structure are analyzed, and the reasonable spacing of cluster operation is calculated. Through research and analysis, the structure of this type of wind turbine is simple and novel, and its aerodynamic performance is excellent, which deserves further study.
