Common Mode Conductive Noise Cancellation for Multiphase Converter Using Auxiliary Winding

A High power density DC/DC converter is often achieved by a combination of multiphase interleaved circuit topology and fast switching devices such as SiC MOSFETs or GaN FETs. On the other hand, the large dv/dt of such devices results in a large amplitude of common mode (CM) conductive noise. Therefore, CM noise attenuation is essential to take full advantage of the multiphase converter in practical application. However, no research on noise reduction methods uniquely for multiphase DC/DC converters, with loosely coupled inductor, has been conducted. Thus, in this paper, CM noise attenuation methods suitable for a multiphase converter is presented and investigated. Consequently, the result verifies that the proposed methods greatly decrease CM noise and the proposed methods encourage development in high power density power electronics.
