A Fault Categorization Technique for Transmission Line Based on BGOMM

This paper proposes a novel technique for the detection of shunt and series faults of a two-terminal transmission line (TT-TL). The beucher gradient of mathematical morphology (BGOMM) is used for the detection of faults and categorization of the faulted phases in a TT-TL. The BGOMM, as a competent current analyzing tool, is used for extorting the concealed characteristics from the fault currents measured at B-1 (first bus) of the power system. Moreover, the amplitude of beucher gradient of the samples of post fault current is evaluated to categorize faults. The feasibility of the BGOMM technique is authenticated by a 2-machine 2-bus power system simulated in the MATLAB software. The outcomes of the simulation verify that the BGOMM technique successfully categorizes every type of fault with great accomplishment.
