Numerical prediction of magnetostrictive behavior in non-oriented electrical steel sheets

Due to the lack of experimental data of the magnetostrictive phenomenon in electrical steels (used in the manufacturing of electrical machines and transformers), an analytical model is proposed here. This analytical model creates directly the magnetostriction curve /spl lambda/(H). The data generated by this analytical model can be used in implementing numerical models requiring such data such as coupled magneto-elastic finite element models. The developed analytical model has provided the expected behavior of ferrous substances as published in the literature and demonstrated in this paper.
