Liquid Benzene Analyte Based Dual Core Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor for Chemical Sensing

In this paper, we propose a photonic crystal fiber sensor to detect analytes based on their refractive indexes. We modeled the fiber structure based on Surface Plasmon Resonance using gold as the plasmonic material. The Finite Element Method (FEM) has been used to evaluate the sensing performance and to investigate other characteristics. We arranged the airholes of the structure in a 5-ring hexagonal manner. The central airhole filled with benzene has a layer of gold coating to create the plasmonic mode and improve the sensing capability of the sensor. We changed the parameters of the structure to find the optimum results. The proposed sensor could successfully detect the change in the refractive index varies from 1.45 to 1.49 with a maximum sensor resolution of 3.33×10
