Legal Protection for Data Security: a Comparative Analysis of the Laws and Regulations of European Union, US, India and UAE

Cyber security is a matter of serious concern when we consider the enormity of data security violations that are occurring across the world. Countries are grappling with the problems faced by newer data security threats, each passing day. While protection of data of its citizens becomes prerogative of the State and the privacy of the information stored in these data, an issue of citizen's fundamental and basic right, it becomes imperative that the laws and regulations keep up with the demands for greater protection. This paper analyses the existing laws of the European Union, US, India and UAE and compare what aspects make each jurisdiction afford greater protection to data security issues.
