Determination of the Low-voltage Excitation Capacitor of High-low Voltage Dual Stator-winding Induction Generator for No-load Operation

In order to realize low-voltage reactive compensation of the induction generator in the cogeneration plant, a high-low voltage dual stator-winding induction generator is proposed. For the novel machine, the per-unit steady-state equivalent circuit of no-load operation is derived taking the mutual magnetic leakage between the two sets of stator windings into account, and the steady-state models considering or ignoring the mutual leakage inductance are established. The improved Powell method is used to solve the models to calculate the low-voltage excitation capacitor required for different no-load operating conditions and the inner layer iteration of the excitation reactance is conducted when the magnetic circuit is saturated. By comparing the calculated results of the 8kW prototype with the experimental results, the performance of the two models is discussed, and the accuracy of the calculation method is verified.
