Rearranging the coupling architecture in the brain in response to the introduction of various endocannabinoid receptor ligands

This study aims to reveal the connectivity rearrangement in the brain in response to the introduction of various endocannabinoid receptor ligands including both agonists and anthagonists. Rats of WAG/Rij and Wistar lines were investigated before and after introduction of WIN55,212-2 and SLV326 respectively. Local field potentials from different cortical areas, thalamic nuclei and hippocampus were recorded. Coupling analysis was performed using nonlinear Granger causality technique with models specially developed for the considered data. The results were statistically analyzed using ANOVA and t-test. Both coupling increase and decrease in different channel pairs was detected leading to complex evolution of brain network in time and causing the transition from baseline to seizure and between different types of epileptic activity.
