Design and implementation of EVDEPSO based IDN-FPI controller for AGC in interconnected non-reheat thermal power system

An innovative integral derivative controller along with Filter (IDN) is cascaded with fractional proportional integral controller (IDN-FPI) is anticipated for Load Frequency Control (LFC) in a non-reheat system. The tuning constraints of the IDN-FPI controllers are tuned by employing enhanced velocity differential evolutionary particle swarm optimization technique (EVDEPSO) applying an Integral of Time multiplied Absolute Error (ITAE) as cost function. The dominance of the projected IDN-FPI control approach is proved by comparing the dynamic responses with the EVDEPSO tuned proportional integral derivative controller. An comparative analysis has been done within IDN-FPI controller and PID controller in terms of time response indices of frequency as well as tie-line power fluctuations subjecting disturbances. The implemented method is also examined by considering uncertainties such as Generation Rate Constraint (GRC) and Governor Dead Band (GDB). Finally, it is examined that the employed IDN-FPI controller optimized by EVDEPSO technique is vigorous and accomplish satisfactorily to resolve the load frequency control issues with the presence of SMES.
