IEC 61131-3 Front-End for the LLVM Compiler Family

Execution time of IEC 61131-3 applications depends heavily on the approach and techniques used to compile the programs into executable code. In this paper the authors describe an effort to create an IEC 61131-3 front-end to the LLVM family of compilers, and provide the results of execution timing tests run on an x86 and an ARM platform. A comparison is made to the execution time of programs compiled by CODESYS.
