Model Predictive Control With Vector Selection Method for Switching Loss Reduction and Neutral Voltage Balancing in Three-Level Inverter

In order to decrease the common mode voltage (CMV) and balance the neutral-point voltage, a method is presented. In the algorithms, no longer utilizing some vectors. So the CMV can be limited within ± Vdc/6. In addition, select the suitable switching vectors to balance the neutral-point. Furthermore, the current ripple and switching times make up a cost function. Apply the cost function to choose the optimized switching vector. And a weighing factor is proposed for ensuring the low current’s THD and the high current’s efficiency.
