Possibilities of Simulating Magnetic Fields in a Wheel-Rail System

The features of simulating a constant magnetic field in the zone of contact of the wheel with the rail are considered. Magnetization modes are calculated for different positions of the wheel relative to the rail. The web-ampere characteristics of the contact zone of the wheel with the rail are obtained. The effect of the air gap on the degree of the contact zone saturation is evaluated. The results obtained make it possible to assert about the differences in the saturation of the individual elements of the wheel and rail with the magnetic field. For the saturation mode and two-point contact, the value of the magnetic field induction on the wheel rolling surface is up to two times higher than the induction on the wheel flange. The greatest effect is manifested in the case of interaction of worn out wheels with rails and is mainly due to the contact area.
