Lightweight and Flexible MXene/rGO Thermally Expanded Foams for High-Efficiency Electromagnetic Interference Shielding

Due to lightweight, flexible, and outstanding electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding ability, three-dimensional (3D) conductive foams have drawn great attention in the field of portable and wearable devices. MXene, a highly conductivity two-dimensional (2D) metal carbides, are considered as ideal candidate of electromagnetic shielding materials. However, achieving both thin and lightweight MXene film with controllable porous structure and high-efficiency EMI shielding is still a big difficulty. Herein, we developed a novel strategy to realize both thin and lightweight MXene/ reduced graphene oxide (rGO) film with different micropores size by thermally reduced MXene/ graphene oxide (GO) film in a restricted quartz mold. The micropores in MXene/rGO film are formed by releasing gas such as CO2 and H2O from GO skeleton expansion under high-temperature reduction. In marked contrast to pure MXene film material, the MXene/rGO foam have porous structure after high temperature treatment. More importantly, the MXene/rGO foam at average thickness of 23 gm provided multiple reflection network for attenuating electromagnetic waves, which leading to outstanding electrical conductivity of 5.37×10

S/m and revealing the average EMI SE of 34.5 dB. The successful preparation of lightweight and flexible MXene/ rGO foam with different expansion aperture broadens the potential applications in electron devices.
