A Comparative Study of Multiple Radar Waveform Design Techniques

The pulse compression terminology in radar systems emerges as a solution to problems such as achieving energy of a long pulse and resolution of a short pulse. The performance of a P3 (or P4) signal is compared in the proposed model along with corresponding LFM signal, using matched filtering and window filtering. Further weight functions are utilised in the time domain to reduce the Doppler sidelobes. Experimental simulations are carried out using four window functions and observed the three foremost pointers of its features, the main lobe width, the peak sidelobe and peak gain loss information. These weighting techniques decreases the side-lobe levels after matched filtering and the subsequent trade-offs. Also, fractional doppler shift effect is simulated to select the best method amongst as per the realworld applications.
