Efficient and Robust Security implementation in a Smart Home using the Internet of Things (IoT)

Internet of Things (IoT) is going to make such an existence where physical things offer inventive and brilliant types of assistance to humans. The devices connected to the internet perform different functionalities. The connected devices within a system communicate with each other through wireless that is not considered as reliable media. It is important that we address how devices behave in different scenarios. The devices connected to the system may be heterogeneous or homogeneous in nature. Each and every device may behave in its own manners as all the connected devices have different sensing capabilities to perform any specific task. The objective of this paper is to present a model that consists of devices having different sensing capabilities. The system based on our presented model has capabilities to replace the faulty devices in order to improve the efficiency and robustness for the implementation of security in smart homes. The system would use “Wi-Fi scanner”, “Heat sensor”, “Motion sensor” etc. for sensing the movement of different physical objects to implement security in the smart home. In the end, outcomes of the model have been tested by taking different scenarios with some future work.
