Research on Cavitation Noise of a Balance Valve for Folding Boom Crane

The balance valve is an important hydraulic component. Sharp howling noise often occurs when a folding boom crane is operated. Aiming at the noise problem of the balance valve, a three-dimensional model of the internal flow field of the valve was established. Liquid-vapor two-phase flow simulations are performed under different inlet pressures and valve opening conditions. The generation and evolution of cavitation noise are revealed. Finally, an experiment under different inlet pressure conditions is carried out. Experimental results show that the cavitation noise is a periodic signal, mainly composed of 5 simple harmonic signals. As the inlet pressure increases, the noise at a certain frequency increases significantly. The research has a certain engineering practical significance for noise reduction of hydraulic valve.
