An Efficient Method for Non-uniform Solid Rocket Motor Grain Burnback Simulation

We proposed a Minimum Travel Time Method (MTTM) to perform burnback simulation of non-uniform solid rocket motor grains. The innovative method builds a mathematic model to calculate minimum travel time field of flame front. The field describes geometry of burning surface at any time in the form of isosurface. Test results show that the method provides accurate prediction for non-uniform grains. Parallel computing technology can be easily applied to accelerate MTTM, and achieve much higher performance than general graphic methods.
