HFSWR Ionospheric Clutter Suppression Based on Cross-Correlation of Multiple Aggregation Zones

Aiming at the clutter suppression problem of ionospheric Es layer clutter as well as its one-hop and two-hop echoes in High-Frequency Surface Wave Radar (HFSWR) receiving echo spectrum, we apply the cancellation processing algorithm to multiple aggregation zones. In this paper, a new HFSWR ionospheric clutter suppression algorithm based on cross-correlation of multiple aggregation zones is proposed. Clutter suppression is achieved by utilizing the correlation between ionospheric Es layer clutter and its one-hop and two-hop echoes. The experiment results of measured data indicate that the proposed method has significant suppression effect on ionospheric clutter, the improvement of signal-to-noise ratio is obvious, which lays the foundation for subsequent ocean information extraction.
