Evaluation and optimization of Traffic Signal Timing Scheme

Intersection is the center of the traffic flow of each road in the city, and it is the reasonable distribution and adjustment of the traffic flow on the road network. The traffic signal control is a basic way to control the intersection. Only reasonable signal control can improve the operating efficiency of the intersection. Taking the intersection of xingan north road in Hohhot city as the research object, the traffic signal timing scheme at the intersection was studied and optimized. First of all, based on the current situation of the highway road actual survey of basic condition and traffic flow characteristics of each intersection and timing plan design research, mainly adopts the manual counting method and video monitoring methods for data collection, queuing up for the status quo and analysis of flow to the flow conditions, and then reasonable cycle length is calculated using Webster method, and make the appropriate phase timing design, finally, the timing plan before and after optimization and queue length of the flow of traffic. The optimization of timing scheme not only improves the utilization rate of the existing roads, but also greatly improves the capacity of the roads, and reduces the number of parking times and queue length of vehicles.
