Ergonomic Risk Analysis for Cassava Noodle Production System Using Occupational Repetitive Action (OCRA)

Several musculoskeletal-disorders (MSDs) complaints were identified in an industry of cassava noodle (Mi lethek industry). The complaints were caused by unsuitable work posture and excessive workload with repetitive frequency in long duration. The research objectives were: 1) to analyze ergonomic risk level for cassava noodle production system; 2) to provide recommendation for improving work method and minimizing MSDs risk. Worker ergonomic risk was measured using Occupational Repetitive Action (OCRA) based on technical action. The action considered strength, posture, repetition, addition, recovery, and duration factors. The OCRA output was an index indicating risk levelling and management. The result indicated that grinding station had the highest risk level of 6

level and OCRA index of 17.1 caused by power, posture, repetition, and recovery factors. The recommendation was developed based on improvement, ergonomic review, and training. The suggestion redesigned grinding tool with rotary blade as batter inverting device to minimize workload and to improve recovery time. The recommendations are expected to reduce the OCRA index to 6.0 or the minor risk level of 4
