Numerical and Experimental Study of the Shielding Effectiveness of Polyaniline-Silver (PANI-Ag) Nanocomposite using Coaxial Open-Ended Waveguide

In this paper, a study of electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of a Polyaniline-Silver (PANI-Ag) nanocomposite films using coaxial open-ended waveguide is presented. Ansys HFSS software is used to model the coaxial open-ended waveguide and thus evaluate the S-parameters to calculate the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of different polyaniline samples. The (PANI-Ag) composite material is synthesized within the laboratory using a facile UV induced polymerization of aniline in presence of AgNO3. The shielding effectiveness simulation results are used to confirm the experimental measurements on the sample synthesized with coaxial open-ended waveguide in the frequency band from 8 GHz to 18 GHz. These measurements are validated by using the rectangular waveguide method in the frequency range of 10 GHz-15 GHz.
