Design Method for a Wideband Resistive Voltage Divider Based on Average Impedance Matching With Optimal Solution Methods

This article proposes a design method for wideband resistive voltage dividers (WRVDs), working in the range of power frequencies to a few megahertz, with serial-parallel construction. It introduces an extended concept of the Hamon method into the WRVDs, not in a conventional way like balancing a bridge, but in a new way that involves impedance matching with optimal solution methods. With this method, average resistance matching and stray capacitance matching are simultaneously realized by an optimal arrangement of two element resistor groups as the input and output resistors. The surrounding stray capacitances between the resistors and chassis are also considered. The performance has been confirmed to improve by about 50 times, compared with that without the method.
