How Can We Best Manage the Electromagnetic Environment of Modern Clinical Medicine?

The "Medical electromagnetic environment" includes all the facets of electric and electronic device use in clinical settings, such as hospitals, clinics, and patients’ homes. Initially, management of the "electromagnetic environment" was focused on how to examine "the frequency distribution of a radiated field" or how to determine "the strength of the electric field" in a target space. Research later branched out into elements of the electromagnetic environment such as the electromagnetic field radiated by Alternating Current, the magnetic field of Direct Current, static electricity (surge), and electric power sources and grounding. In modern hospitals, wireless communication has become indispensable, making the management of the electromagnetic environment more complex. Here I describe the elements of the system that need to be managed and how to manage them.
