A Fuzzy Controller for Thermal Comfort and Indoor Air Quality in a Bioclimatic Building

Global warming and greenhouse effect are main concerns of actual society. Governments are putting their efforts in reducing CO
₂
emissions. One way to do this is to save energy in the building sector, which is mainly spent by Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. On the other hand, energy saving in buildings cannot put users' welfare at risk. Therefore, a trade-off between energy saving and comfortable environments is desirable. Control systems are suitable for this aim. This work presents a fuzzy controller to maintain both, thermal comfort and indoor air quality, in a laboratory which is part of a bioclimatic building. Several simulation results obtained through a simulator calibrated using real data are showed and commented.
