Anonymous Network Based on Software Defined Networking

Attacks on networking devices are common nowadays and it can lead to compromise systems in the entire network. Defense on entry point should always give as high priority as the endpoint protection. A security approach by abstracting the network devices by utilizing Software Defined Networking capabilities is proposed in this paper. So the underlying network device stays anonymous from the network packet trackers. This is achieved by hiding the packet transmission path from intermediated network devices and third parties so that the routing information cannot be traced. Encrypting the whole packet with all the routing information cause the router incapable to route the packets. Our system gives the solution to route those encrypted packets to reach its destination successfully by hiding the routing path. The environment for implementation was built on the Mininet network emulator. Encryption and routing the encrypted network packets is performed within this virtual environment. This approach will eliminate the first level of attack surface i.e., “gathering information about the network” by hiding network devices.
