Design and Airgap Optimization of a Doubly Salient Permanent Magnet Machine

Doubly salient permanent magnet machine (DSPM) is a kind of machine that appeared after the emergence of switched reluctance machine. It is a mechatronic system that combines the structure of switched reluctance machine and permanent magnet material. DSPMs have the advantages of simple structure, good speed regulation performance, fast dynamic response, high power factor, high efficiency, etc., and can achieve various special requirements of torque / speed characteristics. This paper uses the existing design experience to design the basic dimensions of a 300 W machine and optimize the design. The finite element analysis results show that the magnetic field distribution in the machine is ideal, the EMF waveform is in line with expectations, and the design scheme is reasonable.
