Experimental Study of Radiated Compromising Emanations for Computer Monitors

To highlight the necessity of applying additional protective measures to the equipment that processes critical information, comparative measurements were performed for two display devices, one commercial and the other shielded, in order to detect the compromised emanations that they generate. The amplitude of the electromagnetic signals generated by the two displays were compared and their compromising emanations were captured and processed in order to recover the displayed images. The monitors were tested in a TEMPEST laboratory consisting of a semi-anechoic test chamber and a control shielded chamber.
