Monopulse Tracking Feed With Combined Error Channels

This paper reports design and development of Monopulse Tracking Feed installed in Ground Station for Satellite pointing and Tracking. Tracking feed is optimized at 19.7 GHz. Null depth w.r.t Sum Peak measured in Azimuth and Elevation planes is > 45 dB. The Azimuth and Elevation error channels are combined using a Riblet Short Slot coupler. Combining error channels will reduce one full channel in tracking receiver saving real estate and power. Phase matching of error channels before combining is done using tapered waveguide sections. This feed is successfully integrated with a Cassegrain Reflector and is used to track Satellites with very narrow beams.
