Heater for Controlled Evaporation of Liquids for Personalized Drug Delivery to the Lungs

We examined the potential of thermal evaporation for the controlled production of aerosols for the administration of drugs to the lungs. A novel volumetric heater was designed and fabricated allowing better control of the heating power transferred to the solvent compared to conventional coil heaters that are commonly used in e-cigarettes. The whole silicon chip is used as a resistive heater. Therefore, we call this approach a volumetric heater. We demonstrate that the vapor production of the volumetric heater can be controlled over a wide dynamic range by varying the heater temperature. [2020-0105].
