A linear photonic neuron using an extended IQ modulator cell for enabling all-optical coherent sigmoid neurons

We present a single-wavelength coherent linear neuron for allowing both weight amplitude and phase-encoded sign representation. All-optical algebraic summation operations are experimentally demonstrated, with simulation results for a trained all-optical 8-input coherent sigmoid neuron at 10Gb/s reveal an average accuracy of 94.37%.
