Optical time-slot switching with 5-μs guard time using 32×32 Si to PILOSS switch

We demonstrate dynamic optical circuit switching using a 32×32 Si thermo-optic strictly-non-blocking switch for optical flow control in datacentre networks. Switching is accelerated by rapid heating in pulse-width-modulation control, and four synchronized optical time slots are switched within the guard time of 5 μs.
