An Integrated Design of the Solid-State Circuit Breaker and the DC-DC Converter

The self-turn-off DC circuit breakers based on thyristor have received extensive attention as it can quickly cut off the short-circuit current. However, these DC circuit breakers will interact with DC-DC converters in the DC grid, causing problems such as the failure of the circuit breaker to turn off and the amplification of the output ripple of the converter. In view of the above problems, an integrated design of the DC circuit breaker and a DC-DC converter is proposed. This design effectively resolves the problem and reduces the volume of the equipment and engineering cost. At the end of this paper, the superiority of this design was verified by experiments.
