Cost-benefit Optimization of Reserve Considering UHVDC transmission System and Wind Power

With the penetration of wind power and the development of Ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission system, the traditional deterministic reserve capacity allocation can no longer meet the requirements of economy and reliability in power system. In this paper, a new joint optimization model of generation and reserve based on cost-benefit analysis is proposed, considering the random faults of conventional unit, load forecasting errors, wind power forecasting errors and the random faults of UHVDC transmission system. In this model, the forecasting error of load and wind power, UHVDC transmission system are considered as multi-state units, which are introduced to the outage capacity probability table. The expected energy not served (EENS) is used to calculate the reserve benefit, Taking the minimum sum of system operation cost, reserve cost and reserve benefit as objective function, the joint optimization model is established to calculate the operational status and reserve capacity of each conventional unit during each research period, and the sensitive analysis of reserve on the related factors is performed.
