Mathematical Formalism of Sequential Automaton with Parallel Branches used in Industrial Automation

Sequential automata have been used for quite a while in the control of industrial systems, mainly in the automotive industry. A series of modelling and analysis techniques have been used. Sequential automata models are at the basis for implementing control algorithms of assembly processes in the automotive industryThe paper aims to to establish a mathematical definition for deterministic automatons with parallel branches, with direct application in control of industrial systems. Starting from classical definition of deterministic automaton, a new definition for a deterministic automaton with parallel branches is established.
