Influence of the Neuro-electrostimulation of the Sympathetic Nervous System on the Electrodermal Activity of the Skin: Case-Study

The aim of this work was to characterize the effect of correction of activity of the sympathetic nervous system (neuro-electrostimulation) on the electrodermal activity in the study of neuro-electrostimulation as a way to increase the learning ability of practically healthy people. The study involved 15 people, selected according to the poor results of the Dual 2-back test for the working memory. The participants were randomly divided into 2 groups: the main (here, the stimulation procedure was carried out) and the reference (placebo). The neuro-electrostimulation procedure was performed using the “Sympathocor-01” device. Simultaneously with the stimulation, the electrodermal activity (EDA) signals were recorded. The EDA events and their parameters were identified and characterized using a special algorithm. The most informative of the EDA signal parameters was the number of EDA events during a study. A gradual increase in the number of such events in the main group from the first day to the fifth was obtained. The high statistical significance of the effect is demonstrated, relative to the reference group, where this tendency was absent.
