Exploring Target Size and Visual Distance of a Responsive Eye-Controlled System

According to geometric optics, the perceived size of an object becomes smaller when the object is further from the viewer. However, smaller targets are harder to activate. This study investigates the effect of target size and visual distance on an operating eye-controlled interface. Four tasks comprising of different combinations of visual distance and target size were assessed by user. The results showed that visual distance and target size affect selection time and task load of eye-controlled interfaces operation.
