Bringing Public Safety Communications into the 21st Century

Emerging technologies have become part of life, simply because some people may interpret these technologies as emerging, and yet others may see them in different ways. The technology will entail wireless data communications, information technology, biotechnology, on‐demand printing, advanced robotics, and man–machine communications. The Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain technology, and artificial intelligence all offer the potential to improve public safety as they play a big role in generating, transmitting, and reading emergency‐related data to have powerful decision‐making in future crises. According to M. Bornheim and M. Fletcher, IoT is a new concept in business and technology fields where people and devices including appliances all become connected end‐points in broader complete internet connectivity as well as a network of networks. Blockchain is a new technology and being developed; it has become a tool that many claim has the capacity to transform how business organizations transact data.
