Storm time PP fields effects and TADs modulations in TEC

The latitudinal response to the geomagnetic storm of 15 May 2005 has been examined over the chain of stations extending from the equatorial region to the mid-latitude along the Indian longitude sector. Based upon the TEC observations, it has been settled that the response of the ionosphere to the storm time prompt penetration (PP) fields has latitudinal dependence, although the PP fields infiltrate near-simultaneously from mid to equatorial latitudes. Effect of storm-induced meridional winds on TEC has also been perceived along with modulations in TEC manifested by traveling atmospheric disturbances (TADs).
