PV and QV Curve Analysis Using Series and Shunt Compensation

PV and QV curves are signatures of power system operation under different operating conditions and give an important information about the loading of the system and voltage stability. The series and shunt compensation can be utilized to enhance the voltage and flow in the network. In this paper, PV-QV curves have been obtained for a 5-bus test system and are also obtained for IEEE 9-bus system. The impact of the series and shunt and combined series and shunt compensation was simulated and results are compared. The simulation of the system was carried out in Power World simulator. The margin enhancement has been obtained.
