Robust Variable Power Fractional LMP Based Channel Estimation For MIMO Fading Wireless Systems

A robust variable power fractional Least Mean p-norm (RVP-FLMP) scheme can be used to design an efficient channel estimator that can be applicable for physical layer communication in the case of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) channels. In MIMO system channel parameter plays a significant role in the recovery of the transmitted signal at the receiver. The complexity of the estimation problem increases with an increase in the number of transmitting and receiving antennas. Thus the estimation of the channel coefficient in the MIMO environment is a challenging piece of work. The appropriate prototype of the MIMO wireless channel in the time domain is represented by using Pop and Beaulieu model-based Rayleigh fading channel. The inclusion of fractional order calculus into LMP algorithm improves the performance of the system in terms of faster weight convergence, improved channel capacity and BER. In the case of LMP ,FLMP and RVP-FLMP the channel weight converges approximately after 100, 50 and 10 iterations respectively.The channel coefficients are estimated using proposed RVP-FLMP and it has been observed that the rate of convergence is 10times faster than LMP and variation of mean square error with respect to the number of iteration is much lower than LMP and Fractional Least Mean p-norm (FLMP). In the results and analysis section it has been illustrated that for 2× 2 configuration MSE converges to -25dB after approximately 30,50,125 iterations for RVP-FLMP, FLMP and LMP. A comprehensive comparison for the variation of capacity and MSE and BER is evaluated over a defined range of signal to noise ratio (SNR).
