Challenges of Existing Methods for Quantifying Voltage Dip Unbalance

This paper contains a detailed comparison of five algorithms for obtaining the type of unbalance dip from the three phase-to-neutral voltages. The results from the different algorithms are compared by applying them to the complete range of synthetic dips. The challenges of the three algorithms are presented and analyzed based on the comparison. Several algorithms are sensitive to large phase-angle jumps, PN factor or moderate drops.
