Investigation of Breast Tumor Detection Using Microwave Imaging Technique

Recently, microwave imaging is widely used as a promising cost-effective and portable imaging tool for detection and visualization of tumor inside the human breast. The microwave breast imaging system involves number of antennas which can be used for the purpose of both transmitting and receiving. Using a number of antennas, it is possible to take a full 3-D scan of breast from multiple directions. This paper reports an experimental study for the detection and visualization of breast tumor using microwave imaging tool. The technology used in this experiment is microwave imaging, which determines the difference between dielectric properties of healthy tissues and that of disease-affected tissues to detect a pathological condition. Also, we present the simulation results by taking the breast phantom to assess the potential competencies of the microwave imaging system.
