A Selection Method of Path for Concurrent Multipath Transfer Based on Network Layer

Concurrent multipath transmission(CMT) can be used to increase the network resource utilization ratio and the network reliability, compared with the single path transmission as used in ordinary networks. In this paper, we propose a dynamic selection method of path for CMT, which is dedicated to solving the problem of network transmission performance degradation caused by the quality difference in transmission paths. This method implements CMT at the network layer based on Vector Network(VN) which is a new type of connection-oriented network. The combination of path bandwidth utilization and average queue length is used to measure path transmission quality. And a concept of memory factor is proposed to measure the load level of the path from the perspective of load balancing. Then the combination of these two indicators is used as the weight of the path to select the path. We have carried out simulation experiments and obtained results using OMNET simulator. Experimental results show that this method can significantly improve network throughput by 12.16% com-pared with other methods.
