Operation and Evaluation of Wind Power Generation System with Constant Frequency Double Rotor Generator

Constant frequency double rotor generator (CFDRG) is a novel doubly-fed machine for wind power generation with auxiliary excitation of permanent magnets (PMs). This paper proposes a grid connected wind power generation system employing the CFDRG. The operation of the PM rotor is very crucial to the dynamics of the machine. So the operation under certain disturbances and stability analysis of the CFDRG are carried out to find the safe operating limit of the machine. Notably, the CFDRG under wind gust and grid disturbances are analyzed in aims to find the dynamic performance of the power generation system. Theoretical analysis and simulations in MATLAB have validated the effectiveness of the proposed wind power generation system.
