Research on novel method of modulation generating controllable jitter

In high-speed data links, the data rates continue to increase, and the rapid increase in the operating rate of digital systems will inevitably significantly reduce the jitter tolerance of digital systems. Jitter therefore has become a crucial obstacle to the stability and effective rate of high speed digital systems. Generating controllable frequency, amplitude and component of jitter plays an important role in jitter tolerance testing and would help designers to better specify analyze jitter. This design proposes a novel method of modulation to generate controllable jitter, bases on the principle of modulation and uses digital processing to achieve controllable jitter. This design uses the TIE measurement in MATLAB to verify that the amplitude, frequency and component of generated jitter is controllable. And then proposes a hardware implementation method. The whole hardware design is mainly divided into modulation signal digitization, waveform digitization, digital signal superposition, comparison, filtering and digital to analog conversion.
