Suppressed MT static effect by two wavelet threshold criteria

In the Magnetotelluric sounding (MT), due to the electrical in-homogeneities of the small near-station conductor on surface, static effect are usually caused. In order to suppress this effect, the wavelet threshold is adopted. First, we decomposed the MT data with wavelet coefficients and then used threshold method to reconstruct. The reconstructed signal can effectively suppress the static effect of the MT data. The selection of threshold criterion is the key to suppress the static effect by wavelet. In this paper, two threshold criteria (DT and ST) of the wavelet processing the MT data are compared. The results show that the two threshold methods have certain effects on suppressing static effect.
